We have started a "PENNY POT" at home and we put in our 1p & 2p coins as at the end of the week our purses and wallets are full of coppers but we don't spend them so they will be saved for the rescue kennels , i took Syd for a walk this morning and picked up 9p in the street , its now in the penny pot. We have a photo of Sassy on ours . all you need is an old tub with a lid on or we have bought one of those money boxes that you have to open with a tin opener (cost 50p off market) and in go the penny's , when its full take it to the kennels and Elaine can have fun opening them all. if you work in a big office you could always put one on your desk. every penny does count at the moment , as talking to Elaine the other day we will need some roof repairs doing to some of the kennels before the bad weather comes.

The government has recently estimated that there is around 3 million pounds, yes that's £3,000,000-00, in loose change lost down sofas & settees in the country, so everyone get digging down yours and you'll be surprised what you find. PS - yes I've kept a penny pot for years & always wonder what to do with it when it overflows, now I know.

My better half has got a Baz Box at work but it's not filling up much!
Neil:" i took Syd for a walk this morning and picked up 9p in the street " I'm sorry to hear that the credit crunch has hit your trade, though god knows what the punters get for 9p!!!!!! Tut, it comes to something when even the "oldest profession" is facing hard times!! ;D

What sort of roof repairs require doing?
PS for anyone that's interested a 2p piece weighs 7 grams & a 1p piece weighs 3.5 grams. However kitchen scales are not accurate but I have a electronic industrial laboratory scale.

THOUGHT IT WAS ABOUT TIME THIS HAD A BUMP UP!!! The forum is now 790 members strong and growing daily, would it be asking too much if we all put a penny in a pot for every day that we are a member. However I am not saying that there should be some kind of membership fee just a freely given donation for the pleasures that you get from being a member. With the current members list being at 790 x 365 days x 1p per day this would realize £2,883-50 per annum. Is this too much to ask if our real aim is to take in animals, ( that through no fault of their own find themselves abandoned or just given up by their owners), and give them kindness, love & attention, feed them and care for them until we can find them a forever home.
