Hi all, don't think anyone will be able to help but i know there are alot of Retford-ites on here our first pet Bread the cat went missing on Wednesday night. We live on Grove Lane, Retford near the crossing. Unfortunatly, when scouring the track we have found parts of her leg and fur. Now don't get me wrong, i don't think for one minute she's alive but my partner is beside himself walking up and down the track looking for her body. She meant alot to him and its very upsetting to see him like this.
This is just an appeal really to ask if anyone has picked her up as its a place where families walk and it would have been distressing to see and also if anyone see's her to let us know. She was small, black and white and very fluffy and had a gold flea collar on. I know that she will probably have got stuck under a train but have to try x
Sorry for the morbidity x

Don't be sorry at all...if theres just a tiny chance then you should ask!
In your heart of hearts (if as you say you've found some evidence) what the outcome was for Bread and we are truely sorry for your loss.
Our thoughts are with you xoxox

Sorry to hear about your loss, your partner must have really loved her and I think that he feels that he really needs to know what happened. My 11 year old cat went missing earlier this year after she stowed a lift on the back of the neighbours van, we scoured the area where she was last seen and keep going back there even though that we know that she is not still there but something keeps us going back. Special thoughts are with you.

Thanks, no need to look now. Found her last night under some wood at the back of our outbuildings. She was alive bless her but had lost both back legs and her tail. She still managed a pur when Rob managed to get her out. She was very alert and bright eyed to say she'd been in that state for 36hrs in the pouring rain. We took her straight to the vets and they put her down. Took two injections the little bugger. Glad we said goodbye and got to bury her. The vet at Portlands was brilliant bless him.
xxx
Thanks again

OMG what courage it took for Bread to make it that long and in that much pain !
You must have some comfort that you were able to say your goodbyes and relieve Bread of her suffering. She purred her love to you - her way of saying goodbye and 'I love you both'.
God Bless you little one R.I.P. x
(Tears are rolling down my cheeks and I didn't even know Bread. Andy (other half) said he's gonna ban me from the internet for crying at things like this - I say knickers, leave me to cry...)

Thanks for all your kind words. Got a lovely card from the vets today which was nice of them. However, one of our other cats has now gone missing he's called Toast. He's a very small tabby cat with a red collar. He was found in a bonfire badly burnt when he was a few weeks old so he has a stumpy tail and curled over burnt ears and a scar on his side. He doesn't know how to look after himself because he thinks he's one of the dogs and doesn't really leave the garden. He can't jump far due to his injuries. I'll put a pic up in lost section but if you see him, last seen by the lads at grove granite (across the road from us) on grove lane: 07917887425, 01777707697.

Hi, yes but still nothing. We spent all weekend stopping walkers and asking and they all knew him but noone had seen him I've let all the shelters, rescues, rehomers and vets in the area know but i think we won't see him again. Tilly, now our only cat is lapping up all the attention bless her. She and the dogs have been getting lots of extra cuddles and warnongs never to go near the track lol. I don't know if we'll be having anymore cats, can't go through all this again Thank you for all your messages on here, sometimes you have to speak to people who are on the same wave-length about pets. If I hear 'it's only a cat' one more time!!!
