Glad to hear you are coping OK with the snow Elaine. I was supposed to be at work today but the school is closed frustrating at 7.15am as I am loading Jess into the car for my mums and get the text but really glad there must be 8 inch of snow in Woodhouse!

Oh Yippee doo - about 18 inches over yesterday afternoon and last night, our village status is officially "cut-off" - typical, the bloody car started first time today when I tried it when there's no where to go! On the plus side, looked out of the bedroom window at 6am and there was a fox foraging about on our front snow field that used to be the lawn

I love snow (up to a point lol) but was gutted when I lost my camera battery somewhere outside Retford hospital this morning. Couldn't find it, spent ages looking for a new one online then went back and retraced my steps, finally found it halfway down a snowdrift. Leaving it to dry a bit before I try it.
One thing I really liked today is how chatty everyone in the street was, normally everyones quiet. Including me haha. ;D

I shouted "Anyone out for a wee" this morning and had a very positive response, that was untill I opened the back door and if God had invented paws with brakes on them then they were attached to Bear's feet!!! (A Dead Stop...lol)
Not done anything/been anywhere all day apart from a huge dog walk, as walking is all you can do around here!
As for Foxes...not seen any around our way but did see fox poo whilst we were out walking! Tia didn't roll in it...lol so we do have something to thank the snow for!

Stupid thing is - if we lived in a city the fox would be a much more comon sight and possibly not worth waking the other half up to watch! And yeah Jackie, everyone I have met today on my forays to the shop or walk dogs has stopped for a good natter

Today at the kennels was just unbelievable. The sight that greeted us was just not funny, the top block had to be dug out, before we could let the dog's out, it was that bad. Darren had to go and pick Annalise up in the 4x4, otherwise she would not have got here. I have a flat roof on my conservatory, and Darren and my son had to go up, and clear the snow from it, as the weight was making the roof bend. The guttering has also come of, with the weight of the snow, so that will need to be repaired, when it finally goes away, whenever that will be. Needless to say, the day has been spend shoveling snow, as well as s##t.

Elderly lady next doors' carport started to collapse with her mobility car in, under the weight of snow. We managed to prop it up and get most of the snow off, cleared her way to the road so hopefully she can take her car to her daughters tomorrow. Snow is really heavy isn't it!

We have had over 2ft of snow our road being a side one is cut off and as we live at then end theres no way out, unless you have a 4x4 I made it to work Mon, Tues but took me 2 hrs 7 Min's to get home on a normal 45 min journey. Shawn bless him being a lorry driver was out in it, and his lorry nearly jack-knifed on the way back from skegness on Tues night. He has been leaving his car on the main road around the corner as he cant get back up our road, and at least hes getting to work (but worrying me sick by doing so) I was told that I wont get paid if I don't get in, and its now sat and so that pi**ed me off as so near Xmas could do with the money. But my car ended up getting stuck in the snow when I got it on our road and 5 neighbours had to get it back on the drive and thats where its now staying. Hoping to use Shawn's car Sunday (tomorrow) As he wont need it, and I have to be at work for 9am so will have to leave at least 7.45 am to get there - oh joy. Speaking of foxes we have two that come as regular guest I put food down the orchard for them ones a large male, and ones either a smaller female or a young one. Don't know how they survive the cold bless them. Shawn's mum came from Cornwall on train few weeks ago but we cant get her back to chesterfield train station to get the train home was supposed to go back weds this week. I have sent Mark a brill photo of Mitch and Penny in the snow and asked him to put it on the board for you all to see, as sure it will give you a laugh!!! Keep warm and safe everyone!!!!

Thought I would put a couple of photos of the snow in Mansfield Woodhouse I am sure Sharon will recognise this look living in Sutton-in-Ashfield! This is Lee's Honda Del Sol: And from the side the only bit of colour showing! And of course a little pic of me and my girl enjoying it - you can just see a glimpse of one of Jess's top teeth sticking through!

my husband works in mansfield, he had to go to the nottingham branch for one day. we found an elderly neighbour crying at the bus stop, she had been waiting for 30 mins to get a bus to the doctors and they had changed the bus route with no notices put up anywhere, so the mr took her into town. Then her rabbit died in the snow, he was very old and she had brought him in at night but he died in the day, of course she blames herself our ex battery hens have started to eat porridge which is helping to keep them warm, and i know they are outside animals but im so close to bringing them in, in cat carriers!

Fantastic pictures Paula. I thought the first one was a giant snowball- not a car! Jess looks like she loves the snow. X
