Hi everyone, I'm Alison and I'm Admin on Staffyclub, a SBT member forum. I got this message from a vet nurse who has stopped this dog being put to sleep:
The owners had booked Bruno in to be put to sleep but I couldn't just stand by and watch it happen again.
He had been abused as a younger dog (being 3 and a half or so now), permanently kept in a cage and being fed through the bars etc but after being given a 2nd chance has now been failed again.
He is incredibly frightened in our kennel room and hates being in a cage as you can imagine.
If anyone can help at all please let me know, we are in Nottingham but I could transport Bruno to meet anyone who could help.
I have taken him out this morning on a lead and also have spoken to his previous owners. They say he was walked on a lead and also can be let off lead and his recall is good, better with a male owner apparantly! He walked fine on a lead for me, obviously stopping to smell everything and very alert. He previously lived with a female staffy and they got on fine, and he would tolerate other dogs though with a limit!
He apparantly can sit and stay but wouldn't do so for me as he is quite nervous, and also quite nervous when you reach out to touch him, though once you have done so he's ok with it but still on full alert.
According to them he is good with people, more a mans dog. He is almost 4 years old and a beautiful red/brindle colour, a good compact staffy size, fit and (as far as we know) healthy.
He is neutered and had vaccinations last in 2009 according to his file, though he might have gone somewhere else for them last year.
Can anyone help?
