We had a mom and her 6 kittens bought into the rescue today. Mom is semi feral, and had her babies on a compost heap where she had dug a hole for them. Kittens are about 10 day's old, so still very young, but will be available for adoption later. Pics to follow.

Quick update on the mum and five kittens I am fostering for Elaine. Kittens were born on Wednesday and are all colours from tabby, smokey grey, white with splodges- a real mixed bunch. All gorgeous and doing fab. Mum hasn't stopped eating and is really friendly now although she still runs and hides when I go in but soon comes out again when she realises it's me. Her name is now Molly. Apart from being very underweight she seems in good health and is being a good mum. Will send pics as I'm useless and can't put them on!

I've emailed a couple of pics to Chris so hopefully he'll get chance to put them on. Mum and kits doing very well- kits eyes starting to open and they'll soon be up to mischief. Molly still eating everything I put in front of her- as soon as she sees me opening a tin or a packet she hisses with excitement and makes all kind of strange noises! I saw the 'compost heap' kittens up at Babworth the other day and they are a bunch of beauties too- beautiful colours. If you are thinking of getting a kitten or two in June or July pop up to Babworth and take a look!

Good on you bartsmum!!! You are a star thanks for caring - I'm afraid due to my own health problems and frequent hospital trips/stays plus my own 3 dogs 9 cats plus a "stray" I can't foster but those that can I have total respect for!! Hope they all find their forever homes soon !!! xxx

Thanks so much Chris, they were only a day or two old in these pics so as you can imagine they have grown a fair bit. Nearly three weeks old now and up to mischief. Will send more up to date pics soon :-)

Elaine is winning! My lovely tabby boy is reserved by one of my neighbours but the other four will be needing forever homes before long too. I've sent Chris some more up to date pics so that if anyone is interested in coming to see them here in Tuxford they can see how gorgeous they are. The little tortie with the orange tiger stripes is a girl, I am pretty sure the smokey grey is also a girl, the white with black markings a boy and the big fluffy one that looks like his mum a boy but don't hold me to it as they are still very young! Normal Babworth adoption rules apply. If anyone would like to arrange to see them just pm me or contact the kennels and Elaine will give me a call.

My tabby boy (Brian!) and grey little lady (Lottie) have gone to their new home and settled in well with their new family. They are loving having a whole house to run around and explore and have been and had their first injections and been given a clean bill of health from the vets. I still have three beautiful kittens looking for homes. There is fluffy Toby who loves to play and cuddle, pretty girl Lily who is a little shy but sweet and clever and then crazy Gizmo who is sooo playful and a real people cat- he is the white one with the black markings and such a character. They are all 9 and a half weeks old now and ready for forever homes of their own. Their mum Molly has had enough of them and wants some peace and quiet! :-)

Wonderful news hope the new owners ensure they are all "done" when old enough so they don't add to the problem of cats suffering like Molly did having to fend for herself and babies in the wild! Barts mum - what a star !!!! )

Thanks Dodledeedle, yes especially as they were having a boy and a girl they know that they must get them done as soon as the vet says it is possible to do so and not let either one outside until they are done. Mummy Molly is booked in for spaying this month so no more babies for her either! I know of someone who let their kitten out with their older cats and took it to be spayed at five months old and it was pregnant! Don't do it! Keep them in until they are done. There are more than enough cats and kittens looking for homes as it is :-(
